2. balmain names new ceo.
French fashion house Balmain has appointed Matteo Sgarbossa as chief executive, effective May 6, succeeding Jean-Jacques Guevel, who departed the Mayhoola-owned business in March 2024. Guevel's tenure saw the company navigate the pandemic, expand the brand's entry-level offerings, including a monogrammed canvas handbag range and public shows, and secure a fragrance licensing deal with Estée Lauder, set for release later this year. Sgarbossa, previously international director at Givenchy and with experience at Gucci and Mango, will work alongside longtime designer Olivier Rousteing to drive the brand's next phase of growth. Balmain has yet to announce a successor for marketing chief Txampi Diz, who also departed in March.

LVMH-owned Scotch whisky maker Glenmorangie recently partnered with British nonprofit OurWhisky Foundation for its inaugural auction spotlighting female accomplishment. Hosted in collaboration with online spirits platform Whisky Auctioneer, the event featured the Demeter Collection, comprising 18 rare whiskies, including a unique bottle of Ardberg Twenty crafted by Glenmorangie’s master blender and head of whisky creation, Gillian Macdonald, aimed at supporting women in the industry.
